In a normal digestive process, the partially digested food is being forwarded by muscular movements from the stomach to the intestines. However, for some people, the stomach contents travel back to the esophagus from the stomach. This condition is known as acid reflux.

Common symptoms of this disease include heartburn, difficulty in swallowing, regurgitation, chest pains, dental erosion, hoarseness, asthma, dyspepsia, vomiting, and many others.

If not properly treated, acid reflux can last for several months. But drug treatment can play an essential part in the treatment process of a patient.

The most common medications used include the following:

Antacids. These drugs are used to neutralize the acids in the digestive tract and are primarily taken in for relief of mild symptoms, such as occasional episodes of indigestion and heartburn. They also act to incite the defensive mechanisms of our stomach by building up the secretion of mucous and bicarbonate. Most antacids can be bought over the counter even without a medical prescription. Moreover, these drugs are one of the first to be recommended by professionals to lessen the pain brought about by heartburn or mild symptoms. The three basic ingredients of antacids are magnesium, calcium, and aluminum.

Acid suppressants such as histamine blockers are also commonly used. Histamine blockers obstruct the production of stomach acids by alienating the actions of histamine. Histamine is a chemical in the body that promotes the production and secretion of acids in the stomach. Anti-histamines are available even without prescription and offers relief of symptoms in most of the patients with frequent acid reflux. Patients have to wait for 30 to 90 minutes for these drugs to take effect. But their effect also lasts six to 24 hours. In cases of severe symptoms, a patient may have to take two dosages a day. In some researches, histamine blockers have shown to improve asthmatic symptoms in those who endure from both acid reflux and asthma.

However, in a study dated 2001, it was suggested that histamine blockers occasionally impart complete relief of symptoms for dyspepsia and heartburn.

Proton pump inhibitors are also employed as a medication. They act to trim down the production of stomach acids by reacting with the cells found in the stomach wall which produce and release acids into the stomach. However, researches have revealed that the use of proton pump inhibitors poses some concerns. Side effects, although uncommon, include diarrhea, headache, itching, and nausea. Moreover, these drugs should also be stayed away from by pregnant and breast-feeding mothers.

Another medication that is generally handled is the use of agents which protect the mucus lining in the gastrointestinal region. This kind of drug acts by attaching to an ulcer crater so that it will be guarded from damage caused by digestive acids. It is advisable for people undergoing maintenance therapy with mild or moderate acid reflux conditions. Likewise, it has minor side effects, including constipation.

Anti-spasm drugs are also utilized to prevent acid and even non-acid reflux. A gamma-amino acid butyric acid agonist, an anti-spasm drug is generally used to abate the spasms in the muscles. Unlike most medicines used for acid reflux, it can also lessen non-acid refluxes and amplify the pressure in the lower esophageal sphincter, a muscle that separates the esophagus from the stomach and prevents backing up of stomach contents.

I have a secret to share with you. It's a big secret that few people realise. If you have had therapy, are in therapy or considering therapy then you need to understand this secret to lasting and effective change.

Article Body:
I’m going to share a secret with you now, so just come a little bit closer.

It’s a big secret and I’m going to have to ask you to not tell anyone though, please. I know I can trust you on this.

The thing is, if you did tell anyone, particularly a therapist you might shatter their ego and perhaps they are not as ready as you are to be let in on this little secret.

I do a lot of work one to one with people, and after a session, or some times later, they will say to me, “I can’t believe you made me do …” or “I can’t believe you made me change …”

And this is in spite of me telling them before a session, “I can’t make you do anything you don’t want to do, you are the one that does all the work here.”

In fact, it’s not just in therapy session, but it’s in life you hear people say, “You made me …”

You must have heard people saying it, “You made me drop that” “You made me lose that” “You made me feel that.” I know I have. In fact, I know I have even said things like this, I probably still do on occasion!

See, as a therapist, I don’t actually make you do anything. I can’t make you do anything you don’t want to do. If I could then I’d be retired by now as the most famous therapist on the planet!

I just act as a guide; a facilitator if you like, helping to get you to your chosen destination.

When you go on a car journey somewhere unfamiliar you take a map book right? (And yes, for our more modern and technically astute readers you may be using Satellite Navigation, but some of us still use maps, so just substitute Sat Nav for map here.:) )

Does the map book get you there?

No. It does not.

You use the map book and it guides you there. It tells you the route to take, but you actually get yourself there.

You could ditch the map and just go by gut instinct, but it’ll probably take you much longer to get there, if you got there at all. And who knows where you would end up on route!

This is how it works with therapy sessions.

The therapist is the map, and you are the driver.

As a therapist, I use my skills, my knowledge and my experience to guide you safely through the quagmire to your chosen destination. You could make the journey yourself, and some people do, but it can take longer and be a much more treacherous route.

Of course, this doesn’t just apply to therapists though; it can apply to any area of your life. You can use the knowledge and experience of experts to get you to your goal quicker.

If you take up a new hobby or sport, you don’t tend to sit in a corner and try to work it all out yourself. You will normally go for lessons or at the very least get a book by an expert. When you start a new job, you are generally taught by an “expert”; someone who already knows the ropes.

In effect, you model the expert, learn how they do it and then do the same. Kids do it all the time. It’s how they learn. Ever noticed how your kids always pick up those annoying habits from you; the ones you really didn’t want them to have?

For modelling to be truly effective, instead of just copying what a person is doing, you must learn what is going on in their heads and copy that too. You need to understand their mental processes in order to effectively model their results.

If you are learning to break a wooden plank with your bare hands, it’s no good thinking about your shopping list whilst going through the motions. You have to copy the mental processes and then you will shatter the wood.

Whatever your goals in life, use a “map book” to help you get there. Model an expert and your journey will be much easier and safer.

Created by Seinfeld co-creator Larry David, the HBO original series harbors many of the same dominant themes as its successful predecessor. Following the real life world of Larry David as he socializes with the Hollywood elite, the show is more akin to Costanza and what the Seinfeld show would be like if it were to be applied to the daily life of Jerry's best friend George. Utterly hilarious, the show is one of the best original cable series productions on air today, alongside The Sopranos, Monk, and The Shield.

The Curb Your Enthusiasm (Season 2) DVD features a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere "The Car Salesman" in which Larry shocks his friends and family by deciding to take on a job as a car salesman. Meanwhile, Cheryl and Larry purchase a seaside holiday home from Jason Alexander's agent only to learn that the abode comes with its own disturbing "house sound," and Larry contemplates launching a new TV series with Jason chronicling the life of an unemployed typecast actor… Other notable episodes from Season 2 include "The Shrimp Incident" in which Larry comes to believe that an HBO executive stole some shrimp from his Chinese takeout order, and "Shaq" in which Larry earns the wrath of L.A. when he inadvertently trips Shaquille O'Neal at a Lakers game…

The things you have in mind for yourself, all those dreams, you're living them - right.

Well since you've read all about what success is and how to get it, now you are a success, right.

OK, I know, you're not yet living with all that you want, but you have read all about success, so you know everything about it, right.

So, if you know about success, what's holding you back?

Why are you living with anxiety, depression and low self-esteem rather than happiness, joy, positive thinking and high self-esteem?

There seems to be a gap between knowing about something and your actual assimilation of it into your own life. Why is this?

Learning is an interesting thing. Most people think they learn a lot in school and from all the books they have read. This is not actually the case, particularly when it comes to developing your daily thinking and your behavior patterns.

Think about this; even if you went to collage, how much of what you needed for your first job did you really get from the college learning experience. Didn't you still find that the real learning began on the job?

It's always this way, real learning, what you use to form you predominant though and the routine actions you take came from modeling others. When you started that first job, you copied and followed what others were doing, sure there was some explanation, but most of your knowledge and skills came from watching and following others.

Most employers know that you are in a training period for a while after you start, even if you have been in the field for a while. My personal experience from working in small companies which you may be able to relate to, was that there was very little formal training, it was almost all from modeling others and my own abilities to apply my past experience to the present situation.

As you developed in a trade or career, how did you continue to enhance your abilities? Mostly in two ways, you continued to pick up on more details, tricks, methods and processes from others, or you developed them yourself using the knowledge you had acquired up to that point.

Formal learning and books gives us background on a subject and possibly somewhat of an understanding of the topic, but the real learning comes from watching the example of others along with our own actual personal experience and integration.

Let's look at how you learned as a child?

Again, you mainly copied those close to you, at first primarily from your parents and siblings.

As you get older you are more and more influenced by piers, school and activity mates, and then by people you admire.

This all goes on for the most part automatically without your awareness or control. Your mind is perfectly capable of copying language skills, behavior patters, mannerisms, attitudes and ways of perceiving things, all with out the need of your conscious thought.

This capacity to model others is the most powerful and automatic learning method humans have. You didn't have to study, read or memorize anything to learn most of what guides your moment to moment thoughts and actions. You did it by following what others did.

The most powerful mode of learning is live human interaction. You actually watch what they do, with full human interaction, using all of your senses.

The next, almost as effective mode is hearing someone describing what and how they do what they do. With this you get the power of what comes through their voice, including all the emotional and attitudinal nuances that are reflected through their speech. Hearing directly from the person actually doing the thing is more affective than having it told by another.

The least effective method for learning thought patterns and behaviors, which can't actually be termed as modeling, is to read about it. This method does not provide any connection to true real human interaction. You are relying totally on your interpretation of printed text and imagination to gain usable value. Reading is a good way to get a basic idea about something. But just like with your formal education, you need to be around others to effectively assimilate it for your own use.

Ask yourself this, looking at yourself, how many people have you modeled directly versus those you have read about?

The more of your senses that are involved the better your ability to assimilate the behavior into your life. You are touched by the whole person rather than by a description of them.

Find people who are successful in life to model the kind of thought and behavior that will support the life you want for yourself. Learning from modeling can really only be considered when done live or through voice communication, otherwise it's just studying 'about' them.

You need to get the nuances and the essence of the feelings behind their thoughts and actions, if you hope to actually take on those attributes yourself. The power of communication is in the emotional undertones that are unknowingly transferred.

This is where you will understand the self-awareness level, the positive attitude and thinking, the self-confidence, and motivation behind what they do that you can use yourself to support your actions.

Look for more than what is seen as the surface communication, and you will find a powerful self-improvement resource for yourself.

Your dreams are readily possible when you support them with the right thoughts and actions.

The Louis Vuitton Boulogne Purse is from the famed handbag and leathergoods company's 2007 catalog. The Boulogne comes in 4 styles all of which have the same basic design, but feature different fabrics and accents depending on which bag you choose.

The two largest purses in the Boulogne collection measure 11.8" x 11" x 3.5." The basic designs of the bags are the same, but are very different because of the details. One of the Boulonge purses is black monogrammed Mini Lin cotton and linen canvas. The fabric on this Louis Vuitton Monogrammed Boulogne purse is very elegant and rich. The bag is lightweight and perfect for summer. Brass hardware and black leather strap and corner reinforcements only add to the look and make it a well rounded bag. This particular bag would look great with almost anything and any outing.

The other Louis Vuitton Monogram Boulogne purse of the same size (11.8" x 11" x 3.5") in this collection is more of the classic Louis Vuitton style. This bag features the notable gold monogrammed LV insignia on rich dark brown leather. This bag is very similar to the above mentioned, but instead of the canvas and linen is made of leather. This style features a light tan leather strap and matching corner reinforcements. The bag also has brass hardware.

The next bag of the Louis Vuitton Monogram Boulogne purse collection is the Monogram Mulitcolore bag. This bag is smaller than the first two measuring at 12.2" x 10" x 3.9." The bag gives the ever popular Louis Vuitton design an updated look. Instead of the tan and brown color combination this bag features a black background with multicolored LV insignia's. This bag has a very nice outside zippered pocket, which would be great for credit cards or cash on the go. The straps and corner reinforcements are tan calfskin.

The smallest bag of the Louis Vuitton Monogram Boulogne purse collection is the Little Boulogne. This bag is much smaller than the others in the collection at 7.5" x 5.9" x 2" but is very versatile and great for on the go. The LV monogram pattern is featured in black jacquard satin. Black leather strap and reinforcements make the bag very elegant and usable for many occasions. The bag is also the only one of the collection to feature silver hardware, which looks great next to the black on black styling of the bag.

This collection is very modern and versatile for everyday use or a night out. The little Boulogne could be paired with jeans or with a little black dress. The styles of the larger bags would look perfect for a light lunch and walk in the park with a good friend. This bag is a classically designed Louis Vuitton and could be used for years to come. It is perfect for any age or taste. The Louis Vuitton Monogram Boulogne would also make a great gift. These traditional styles will be a timeless addition to your collection.
